In 1600, two years after the death of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Tokugawa Ieyasu's 100.000-men army and Toyotomi's 80.000-men army led by Ishida Mitsunari fought a fierce Battle at Sekigahara in Gifu Prefecture. It was literally the biggest civil war in Japanese history that divided the whole country into two parts. By winning  this decisive war, Ieyasu could come to power as the first Tokugawa Shôgun and established the foundation of the Tokugawa era which lasted for more than 260 years.
