Toyotomi
Hideyoshi, born as a son of a farmer in the Province of Owari (Aichi
Prefecture), succeeded Oda Nobunaga who
was attacked to death in 1582 and unified the whole country. Ôsaka-jô, the magnificient castle
in Ôsaka,
built by some 60,000 laborers in only two and a half years, became his new home and is symbolic of the one-time glory of Hideyoshi.
