1951       study trip to the United States, meets Walter
              Gropius and Mies van der Rohe

      takes over his father´s office
1986      
receives Pritzker Architecture Price, as first and
              only German architect
1991       wird honorary member at the Royal Institute of
              British Architects
1993       becomes member of Academy of Arts, Berlin
1997       partnership with his son Paul Böhm
