1924  opens own workshop in Nancy
1927  meets Le Courbusier
1929  receives first patent for steel panel doors
1940-44  becomes member of the French Résistance
1950  was appointed to Ritter der Ehrenlegion
1958  collaboration with Alexander Calder for La
         Spirale, an artwork at the Paris UNESCO building
1981  receives the Dutch Erasmus Prize (s.a. Renzo
         Piano in 1995)
1984  died in Nancy
