Kimono (ki = "wear"; mono = "thing") is a traditional garment in Japan since the Heian period. Kimonos are usually made of silk. Kimonos are wrapped around the body and secured by an obi ("sash"). Kimonos are mostly worn by women for special occasions. Men wear it often at weddings or during the tea ceremony.
