/ USA born Harland David Sanders (1890-1980) , also called "Colonel Sanders", built up one of the worldwide largest fastfood restaurant chains called Kentucky
Fried Chicken (KFC). In 1930 he already opened the first KFC
restaurant in Kentucky, 1952 the first franchise store in Salt Lake
City. Today there exist over
12,000 restaurants in more then 80 countries. The first restaurant in
Japan was opened in 1970 - one year before McDonald's. KFC is very popular in
Japan, that's why there are 1,100 KFC stations.
